I had tears as I read your heartfelt words and the memory of your dear mother. My husband and I have been caregivers for my mom, who turned 91 last week, since November.
Our daily conversations and reminiscing of stories from decades ago are not taken for granted. I know how much I'll miss her when she leaves and reconnects with my dad, who passed away 10 months ago.
Thank you Yogi for sharing and getting all of us to slow down once in a while and remember what's truly important. ❤️
Amazing, Yogi. Just amazing. I'm sitting here in tears after reading this, thinking of my mom and her love of sports and the connection you had with your mom.
Thanks Yogi. Your remembrance of your Mom is beautiful and a good reminder of what is really important in life: our family and friends who make us who we are. Having just returned home in NYC from a road trip from SF to Seattle with my son (including a great football game at my alma mater in Eugene!), I am inspired by your sharing of your mom to continue to hold my loved ones tightly even if, like yours, are located on another coast. Keep up all of your good work, Yogi. A longtime fan of your work, forever a Pac12 man, Ted Bolen
What a wonderful and heart-warming letter. You’re fortunate to have such a wonderful family; and they, you. In the end it is all about family; with the Moms at the lead.
Your dispatch today made me grab my wallet and become a subscriber. I've been reading for awhile as a freeloader but mom's make us step up. Peace and be well.
Thanks for sharing Yogi. Sounds like you and your family created lots of football memories. When our loved ones leave us we’re left with those memories and it’s there we find some level of comfort. Moms and football are awesome.
What a wonderful article, Yogi. I too lost my Mom (Lila), 2 years ago, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Your words resonated in me, as I also looked to Mom for inspiration and advice. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the pain and joy that are inherent in the cycle of life. Heal the world!
Through your beautiful article I came to know a wonderful mom.
Thank you for sharing this touching memory. Football does amazing things in our lives, and mom's make it even better.
Beautiful story, Yogi. It’s also a reminder of what is important in life. Thank you.

This is a beautiful tribute, Yogi. Thank you for living and leading by example. May your mother’s memory be a blessing.
Great article...I like your advice, write stories that heal the world, brick by brick, one at a time.
Thanks Jim...where can I find your substack page, I'll definitely follow :)
Excellent and thoughtful writing. I really enjoyed this article.

You are a good son. No small achievement.
